Myfanwy MacLeod’s ‘Pieta’
I love working on large figurative pieces – and Myfanwy Macleod’s Pieta was no exception. Under her direction, I sculpted the hands in ZBrush to match photographic reference and supervised the 3D printing of the resulting model.
The hands were 3D printed in a stereolithographic process in a durable white resin. Measuring 15″ long, they were segmented and hollowed so that resin could drain from the interior, reducing overall weight and material usage.
Dylan Sawatzy designed the screw holders that were printed at the ‘base’ of the wrists, allowing them to be installed extremely easily.
Other examples of Myfanwy’s beautiful sculptures and paintings can be found here.
